Teampac Raises Its EcoVadis Rating to Silver

Today, companies’ sustainability performance is increasingly evaluated by independent third parties. One of the most widely recognized international systems is EcoVadis, which compares companies’ sustainability efforts across industries worldwide.

EcoVadis assesses companies on areas such as environmental responsibility, labor and human rights practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Based on the evaluation, companies receive a score and rating that indicates how they rank compared to others in their industry.

In its latest assessment, Teampac successfully improved its rating from Bronze to Silver. This places the company among the top 15% of all companies evaluated.

Customer Interest Sparked the Journey

Teampac’s participation in the EcoVadis assessment was initially driven by customer demand.

– EcoVadis is an independent evaluation of how companies perform in sustainability within their industry. We originally joined the assessment encouraged by our customers’ interest, and we’re pleased to have received positive feedback from them on the actions we’ve taken, says Mira Santala, who leads the EcoVadis process at Teampac.

Long-Term Work Behind the Achievement

Reaching Silver level is not a one-time achievement, but the result of consistent, long-term work.

– We have had a solid and systematic sustainability process in place for some time. That made it possible for us to move from Bronze to Silver relatively quickly, Santala explains.

As part of the EcoVadis assessment, companies receive a detailed report outlining areas for improvement.

– The report clearly highlighted the key areas where we can still improve. By focusing on those, we were able to further develop our operations and raise our rating.

Progress becomes more challenging at higher levels.

– Now that we are among the top 15% of companies, further improvement becomes more demanding. At the same time, the number of companies being assessed is constantly increasing, which raises the bar even higher.

Strong Environmental Expertise at the Core

At Teampac, the EcoVadis process is led by Mira Santala, who works as a Concept Manager and is also responsible for environmental matters. Sustainability has been a core part of her career from the beginning.

– I’m trained as an environmental engineer and worked for several years early in my career as an environmental specialist. Environmental responsibility has always been important to me.

The EcoVadis process also brings personal meaning to her work.

– The work is interesting and rewarding. It’s great to be able to apply my expertise and educational background in such a versatile way. Of course, I could always spend more time on it if possible, Santala adds with a smile.

The Next Goal: Gold Level

For Teampac, the Silver rating is not the final destination, but a step forward.

The company has set a clear strategic target: achieving EcoVadis Gold by 2030.

– It’s a clear goal for us. The entire team involved is aware of it and highly committed to reaching it.

Reaching the next level will require continuous development.

– The next phase will certainly be an exciting challenge. We will continue developing new internal processes to further strengthen our sustainability efforts, Mira Santala concludes.
